All the primary schools of the country are being connected to the wireless free internet. The country's top mobile operator Grameenphone is implementing this initiative under the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.
As a part of this, the state minister for primary and mass education Md. Zakir Hossain inaugurated free internet service activities through WiFi in 41 thousand primary schools of Dhaka on Monday.
He inaugurated the internet connectivity of government primary schools through WiFi at a hotel in Dhaka on Monday night.
While inaugurating, the state minister said, internet services in primary schools would open a new horizon in the education sector. This will increase the communication between students and teachers about teaching. Students will have the opportunity to take classes online. Besides, there will be opportunities to read textbooks and other books through internet.

The state minister said that teachers will be able to impart education to the students through various content development through free internet. Through internet service, it will be possible to take forward activities like blended education, formative assessment etc.
Primary and Mass Education Secretary Aminul Islam Khan said, the knowledge, skills and mindset of students will be enhanced through internet services. The present government with the help of Grameenphone is currently providing internet connection to 41 thousand primary schools at this stage. This service will be gradually introduced in all government primary schools.
Grameenphone Limited CEO Yasir Ajman and CBO Md. Nasar Yusuf, Director of the Department Badiar Rahman and others spoke on the occasion while DG, Primary and Mass Education Department Alamgir Muhammad Mansurul Alam presided over the event.
